Turkish Van - Turkish Van Cat - Turkish Van Breeders

The Turkish Van cat is the oldest recorded domesticated semi-longhair cat.
History
Turkish Vans are a rare and ancient breed that developed in central and southwest Asia, which today encompasses the countries of Iran, Iraq, southwest Soviet Union and eastern Turkey. "Van" is a common term in the region given to a number of towns, villages and the famous lake - Lake Van. The modern and History of the Van began in 1955 when they were introduced in England. English breeder Lydia Russell was instrumental in popularizing the breed in England and Europe and in helping new breeders obtain Turkish breeding stock. The breed was introduced in America in 1970s. In 1985 TICA granted the Turkish Van Championship status. The CFA accepted the breed for registration in 1988, and in May 1993 CFA gave provisional status to Van.


Appearance
The Turkish Van is a solidly built, sturdy, broad, muscular, deep-chested and semi-longhaired cat that takes three to five years to reach full maturity. They have prominent cheekbones, firm chin and rounded muzzle. The Turkish Van's coat is white or cream with auburn markings primarily on the head with a colored tail. This is called the Van pattern. Eyes are large, oval and expressive and come in variety of colors like blue, amber or odd eyed with pink rims.

Personality
They are highly energetic, agile and intelligent. Like Turkish Angora they are famous for their swimming prowess. They are very talkative and demand attention. They are very attached to their humans.

Tiffany/ Chantilly-Tonkinese Cat-Turkish Angora

History
Tiffany is also known as Chantilly. It originated in mid 1980s. Tiffanie is the longhaired version of the Burmilla, which was a cross between Chinchilla and Burmese. The Tiffanie was given Preliminary GCCF recognition in 1991, and Provisional status in June 1999.

Appearance
Tiffany is a medium-sized cat with a fine and a silky coat. It has a striking Appearance resulting from the combination of its rich color and full, silky semi-longhair coat, plumed tail, contrasting neck ruff, and ear furnishings. Eyes are clear and luminous mainly found in any shade of green with variations depending on coat color.

Personality
Tiffanies are outgoing, gentle, and loving in nature. They are extremely devoted to their humans. Tiffanies are extremely playful and intelligent. They adapt very well to other pets and animals. They don't like talking to strangers.

Tonkinese Cat

History
Planned breeding of Tonkinese was started in 1960s. But the early versions of the breed have been in existence for centuries. The Tonkinese was originally produced by crossing the Burmese and Siamese breeds. These cats were first imported to England in the early 1800s as "Chocolate Siamese". In United States these cats were introduced by Dr. Joseph Thompson in 1930. Tonkinese achieved championship status in 1984.

Appearance
Tonkinese are medium-sized cats with well-developed muscular strength. They are very dense and surprisingly heavy when lifted. Tonkinese are famous for their brilliant aqua eyes and beautiful sleek, soft coat featured in an unique pattern known as "mink". Tonkinese come in a rainbow of colors intermediate between their Burmese and Siamese parent breeds. The main color is mink, but other coat colors include blue, champagne, honey, natural and platinum colors with some Tonkinese having pointed and solid colors, too.

Personality
Tonkinese are active, alert, playful and people-oriented cats. They are warm and loving and crave for attention and interaction. They are very intelligent and supervise all their human's activities. They delight their owners with playful antics. They mingle well with humans and other pets.

Turkish Angora
History
There is no authentic account regarding the origin of Turkey Angora. They probably originated from the Manul cat domesticated by the Tartars. The Angora was introduced in Europe in early 17th century and in America in the late 18th century. In 1962, the Angora was rediscovered by American servicemen in the Ankara Zoo in Ankara, Turkey. In 1970 the CFA accepted the Turkish Angora for registration. In 1973 the CFA gave Championship status to Angora.

Appearance
Turkish Angora is a medium-sized cat. It is finely boned with firm muscular structure. They have large, almond shaped eyes with color ranging from green, gold, green-gold, copper, blue, or odd-eyed. While pure white is the main color of Turkish Angora, they come in other colors too. They have a kinked or abnormal tail.

Personality
Turkish Angora are very devoted to their humans and have a strong bonding with them. An Angora is totally involved with what the owner is doing. They are very intelligent and are renowned for their swimming prowess

Sphynx - Sphynx Cat - Sphynx Breeders

Sphynx is a hairless cat that originated due to natural mutation.
History
Sphynx is a hairless cat that originated due to natural mutation. In 1966 a domestic cat gave birth to a hairless kitten in Toronto, Canada and thus Sphynx came into existence. Cat breeders in Europe and North America have bred the Sphynx to normal coated cats and then back to hairless to create a genetically sound cat with a large gene pool and hybrid vigor.

Appearance
Sphynxs are medium-sized cats with broad chest. They are hard, muscular, and have medium bone density. They have well-rounded abdomen, which gives the Appearance of having eaten a large meal. They have an open-eyed, intelligent face with a friendly expression. The Sphynx is not always totally hairless; there can be a fine down on the body, which makes the cat feel like a warm peach.

Personality
Sphynx combines the Personality traits of monkey, dog, child and cat. They are very lively in nature. They are very devoted and loyal to their humans. They demand unconditional attention and are very mischievous. The Sphynx are extremely inquisitive and love to be the center of attention.

Somali - Somali Cat - Somali Cat Breed

Somali is a variant of Abyssinian cat breed
History
Somali originated in the early 20th century in England when breeders, low on breeding stock, used longhaired cats in their Abyssinian breeding programs. During the aftermath of World Wars I and II, when so many breeds had dwindled to near extinction, breeders were forced to cross other breeds with the Abyssinian to keep the breed going. Gradually Somali - the longhaired version of Abyssinian - gained popularity. In 1978, Somali earned Championship status in the CFA.

Appearance
Somali is a medium to large sized, lithe, well-proportioned cat with a distinctly ticked coat. It bears an uncanny resemblance to a little fox, with its large ears, masked face, full ruff and bushy tail. It has large almond shaped eyes that range in color from green, hazel to amber.

Personality
Somali is an intelligent and affectionate cat. It is very lively and enjoys human company. It is active, inquisitive and high-spirited in nature. Somalis easily mingle with children and other pets. They are very attached to their owners.

Snowshoe - Snowshoe Cat - Snowshoe Kitten

History
The Snowshoe cat breed was developed in the late 1960s by Siamese breeder Dorothy Hinds-Daugherty of Philadelphia. He crossed American Shorthair with a Siamese to produce a sturdy, pointed cat with white markings on the face, chest and feet. The breed was further developed by breeder Vikki Olander of Norfolk, Virginia. In 1974 CFF and ACA accepted the Snowshoe as an experimental breed. Snowshoe obtained championship status from CFF in 1983 and from ACFA IN 1990.

Appearance
Snowshoe is a medium-sized cat. It is well-knit, powerful but not bulky. It has bright, sparking and expressive eyes that are blue colored. Snowshoe Kittens are born all white. Color and markings start becoming visible between 1 and 3 weeks of age. The patterns or markings are different on every kitten. Snowshoe is found in the usual Siamese colors, most commonly seal, chocolate, lilac, and blue in two patterns, mitted and bicolor. It is also found in red (flame), cream, cinnamon, and fawn.

Personality
Snowshoes are playful and affectionate cats. They love to touch and be touched. They are very intelligent and can be trained easily. They are very talkative and are famous for their fascination with water. They enjoy indoor living.

Singapura - Singapura Cat - Singapura Cat Breed

The Singapura breed has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the smallest breed of domestic cat.
History
Singapura cat is the native of Singapore. They are a combination of both the ticked coat pattern and the dark brown color. Earlier these cats were not given much attention but when they started becoming nuisance they were severely dealt with. The breed was brought into the U.S. in the early 1970s by Hal and Tommy Meadow. Singapura breeders developed this breed and in 1982 this breed was accepted for registration by CFA. Singapura was given championship status in 1988.

Appearance
The Singapura is a small, shorthaired cat with remarkably large eyes and ears. They have a moderately stocky and muscular body. Eyes may be hazel, green or yellow colored. They have a rounded skull with broad muzzle and blunt nose.

Personality
Singapura are known as "pesky people cat". They are extrovert, inquisitive and playful. They are very intelligent and interactive. They have a very soft voice.

Siberian Cat - Siberian - Siberian Cat Breed

The Siberian is one of the largest breeds of domestic cat.
History
There is no authentic account of how the Siberian cat breed reached Siberia but it is widely believed that the breed arrived with Russian emigrants. It adapted itself to the hash and cold weather conditions of Siberia by developing into a hardy, longhaired breed. Thereafter the breed spread throughout Europe. Siberian cat is quite rare in America.

Appearance
The Siberian is a large and strong cat. They are extremely agile and great leapers. They are very muscular and powerful. They have a thick triple coat with a full ruff that gets thicker in the winter months. Their forehead is slightly curved and cheeks are not very pronounced. Siberians have large, round eyes and they come in all colors except pointed colors.

Personality
Siberians are affectionate and playful cats. They tend not to be shy with strangers. Siberians are very intelligent and loyal. They have a fascination with water.
